Who We Are
Today, Harris Precast continues the 50 year tradition of exceptional products and service. Owner Scott Harris handles the day to day operations of the burial vault business. His daughter Zoya manages La Porte Cremation Service and Pet Prairie. The Harris family knows the importance of providing funeral homes with high quality products and outstanding service. Funeral homes are able to pass along that confidence and peace of mind to grieving families.
The Harris Precast staff is made up of caring professionals who understand the importance of the work we do. Trained to not only manufacture a superior Doric burial vault but also set up and execute graveside services and burials for our funeral homes with the respect and dignity the grieving families deserve, the Harris Precast team is here to serve the people of La Porte County and beyond.
In 1962, the Harris family purchased Pine Lake Vault, becoming a Doric burial vault franchise in 1987. Scott Harris bought the business from the rest of the family in 1996 and changed the name to Harris Precast. Seeing a need in our community to offer cremation services, in 1999 Scott and his wife Lisa opened La Porte Cremation Service on a 13 acre parcel of land on Severs Road. As the needs of the community have changed, so have the offerings of Harris Precast.
In 2017, the business moved to its current location, 1877 West Severs Road, La Porte, Indiana. The move to this location enables Harris Precast and La Porte Cremation Service to operate in the same building. The new building also provides Harris Precast with a retail showroom for expansion into monuments, memorials, and urn sales open to the public.
Also under Harris Precast, Pet Prairie opened on the Severs Road property which previously was home to La Porte Cremation Service. Pet Prairie offers veterinary clinics, animal shelters, and the community pet cremation services along with retail sales of pet memorials and supplies.
